A Family Art Jam puts everyone in the same creative space, working toward something tangible, and that shared focus tends to bring out conversation that busier weeks don’t leave room for.
When you are all working on the same canvas or sitting side by side on your own pieces, the conversation happens naturally. Families often come in expecting a fun afternoon and leave having talked more freely with each other than they have in weeks.
One of the more surprising things about a group art lesson is how quickly adults drop the “I can’t draw” routine once their child is in the room doing exactly that. Children approach a blank canvas without hesitation, and that tends to pull the adults around them in.
Holding a brush, mixing colour, working through a composition. Each step develops hand control, hand-eye coordination, and sustained attention.
Every session is facilitated by Specialist Fine Art Teachers and structured around a demonstration, then open painting time.
Every session is facilitated by our Specialist Fine Art Teachers, who begin with a step-by-step demonstration so the whole group has a clear starting point. From there, everyone is free to take the work in whatever direction feels right. You can follow the demonstration closely, adapt it to your own style, or paint something different.
No prior experience is needed to walk into a Family Art Jam session. The teachers are practiced at working with people who have never painted before, including young children from age 2.5. Subjects are chosen by the group on the day, so there is nothing to prepare before you arrive, and the guided format means even those with no art background get up and running quickly.
Take Home Your Own Artwork
Every participant leaves with a finished piece. Whether the group painted a single canvas together or each worked on individual artwork, everything goes home with you at the end of the session. For a lot of families, it ends up on the wall, which is more than most outings manage to leave behind.
The same instructors who teach Little Artists’ year-long certificate programs also run Family Art Jam sessions.
All materials are set up and ready when you arrive, the teachers are there to help from the first brushstroke, and the atmosphere is one where experimentation is encouraged. Groups as small as two people and as large as an extended family have all been made to feel equally at home.
The teachers who lead Family Art Jam sessions are not facilitators. They are practicing artists with professional teaching backgrounds, drawn from a cosmopolitan faculty representing more than a dozen countries.
Painting naturally accommodates a wide range within the same session. A five-year-old and a teenager can both be fully engaged without the activity being simplified for one or pushed beyond the other. Teachers adjust their input to each person as needed.
The Family Art Jam format was built specifically to work for people with no art background. Every session opens with a guided demonstration, so complete beginners always have a way in.
Children from 2.5 years old are welcome. Adults with no painting experience find their footing quickly. The teachers read each person’s level from the start and adjust accordingly. There is no preparation needed and no right or wrong result.
A few things set a Little Artists session apart from a typical weekend art activity.

Little Artists is one of Singapore’s most established fine art schools, with 28+ years of operation and recognised nationally and internationally.

The studio believes that creativity is not a talent some people have and others lack. It is present in everyone, and the teacher’s role is to draw it out. Every session is built on that philosophy.

Sessions are held in dedicated fine art studios at Siglap and Mandarin Gardens, spaces designed specifically for active, hands-on art-making.

Whether someone needs encouragement to get started or wants to take the work further than the demonstration, the guidance follows that person, not the other way around.
Birthdays, reunions, festive gatherings, school holiday meetups, extended family visits. Whatever the occasion, a Family Art Jam gives the group something to do together that actually produces something. Everyone leaves with a finished piece and a reason to come back.

An amazing place to learn and explore the different areas of Art teaching. I have been given many opportunities to teach in different schools and even outside of Singapore. A school of loving and fun colleagues who are truly passionate about teaching and creating a vast array of new projects. Little Artists Art Studio is inclusive of all ages and capabilities.
I really enjoy going to art classes here and the teachers help improve painting, sketching and mix medium skills. There’s a different project every month to do with different mediums and materials. I recommend it to anyone that enjoys art and wants to improve skill.
I was a student at Little Artist for approximately a year. It was an enriching experience as I was able to develop my technical skills with the guidance of multiple teachers as well as develop my conceptual thinking. Little Artists had all the materials and help I required in order to create a visual form for my thoughts ?
Sessions at Little Artists open with a guided demonstration from our Specialist Fine Art Teachers, followed by free painting time for the whole group. All materials are provided, subjects are your choice, and every participant leaves with a finished artwork to take home.
